Are you a GP vet tired of the daily caseload of vaccines and wellness visits, but not quite comfortable tackling the most critical emergencies? Or are you an emergency doctor wanting off overnights but still driven to see a wide variety of cases? Nashville’s premier Emergency and Referral practice, Nashville Veterinary Specialists, is seeking to hire an Urgent Care Veterinarian! We are interested in speaking to internship trained candidates and/or experienced GP or ER clinicians for part time or full time positions.
Urgent Care veterinarians at Nashville Veterinary Specialists will provide care to non-critically ill cases that are presented to the hospital. The urgent care veterinarian will efficiently handle minor emergencies and treat outpatient cases, such as lameness, vomiting/diarrhea, urinary tract infections, non-obstructive FLUTD patients, minor wounds, ear infections, simple eye issues, skin issues, coughing, etc. The urgent care veterinarian will receive cases alongside the emergency veterinarian(s) and provide excellent service to the clients, patients, and referring doctors. If presented with a critically ill patient, the urgent care veterinarian will appropriately stabilize the patient, communicate with the client, and coordinate care with the ER/ICU departments to provide appropriate patient care. The urgent care veterinarian will have access to on site boarded specialists and can consult with them regarding cases.
Duties:
See incoming patients with minor emergencies and treat them
Stabilize and coordinate care with ER/ICU for critically ill patients if presented to service
Complete EzyVet medical record including SOAP, discharge instructions, and client communications
Complete SmartFlow treatment sheet
Expectations:
Rotate with other veterinarians on Urgent Care
Arrive on time for shifts
Available for shift to see any/all incoming urgent care cases
Complete medical records before end of shift
Treat all patients, clients, and staff with mutual respect
Contact urgent care director with any/all questions and concerns
Job Requirements:
Tennessee License
Veterinary liability insurance
Current DEA license
