Metairie Small Animal Hospital (MSAH) is seeking a full-time Emergency Veterinarian to join our family!

MSAH is a full service, 24/7 small animal hospital located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Originally named Metry Animal Hospital, our practice was founded by Dr. Tom Melius in 1946. In 1952, Metairie Small Animal Hospital was built at our present location at 101 Metairie Road. From such humble beginnings, MSAH has evolved and grown to keep pace with the ever-increasing technology and medical advances. We are committed to providing the highest quality medical and surgical care and constantly improve our care and skills through continued education.

We are interested in speaking with all experience levels whether you are a new grad, or experienced GP DVMs looking to make a transition (ER Mentorship provided), internship trained, and/or experienced ER DVMs. You will be an instrumental part of our team and enable us to continue providing exceptional patient care for our community.

Our Hospital

Located in a beautiful state-of-the-art facility that is fully equipped to handle severe emergencies with digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, CO2 laser surgery, class IV therapy laser, surgical suite, dental suite, in house lab and blood bank, ICU and an impressive support staff. 

Our team consists of 15 doctors and over 90 employees on staff with Specialists in the areas of radiology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and oncology that are available for consultation. In addition to the Main Hospital on Metairie Road, we also operate five Outpatient Clinics in West Esplanade, Kenner, Lakeview, Freret Street, and Marigny to better serve our clients.

Skills and Basic Qualifications

• A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university.
• Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed.
• Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics.
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Works collaboratively with hospital team members.
• Makes decisions confidently and effectively.
• Manages time and tasks appropriately.
