The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is a national not-for-profit association established in 1863 which represents over 97,000 veterinarians nationwide. Its mission is to lead the profession by advocating for members and advancing the science and practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal and human health. This member-driven organization has a number of core competencies including: serving the needs of member veterinarians; serving as the voice and advocate for the veterinary medical profession and the welfare of animals; serving as a science-based information resource for the veterinary medical profession and the public; setting and preserving professional standards; and maintaining the highest standards in association management.  For more information, please view
