The Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital externship program offers an exciting opportunity for veterinary students to step out of the classroom and dive into the experience of veterinary practice at a bustling equine referral hospital. With the help of our surgeons, internist, and ambulatory practitioners, students will have the opportunity to shadow and get hands-on experience in a variety of specialties such as medicine, surgery, reproduction, lameness, podiatry, and ambulatory practice. Although Pilchuck is mainly an equine referral hospital, externs will also gain experience with small ruminants and camelids.   Externship programs typically last 2-4 weeks but can be flexible given student schedule. Priority will be given to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
