We are a 9 doctor mixed animal practice in southern Vermont looking for a mixed equine/small animal practitioner who values work/life balance, patient care, client education, and building lasting relationships.
We have 2 locations – VTNH in East Dummerston VT and RVC in Chester VT. RVC is strictly small animal, while VTNH is the base for our equine side of the practice as well as a bustling small animal AAHA accredited practice
The clinic is co-op owned by 5 of the vets who practice here – we are a tight knit group!
Our equine practice is primarily back-yard horses, but with a growing population of sport horses
Our small animal practices have a loyal client base at both locations – some clients have been with the practice for decades!
Why we are awesome:
We value quality of life – we strive to get our doctors out on time so they can enjoy family time. Your free time belongs to you!
We offer a friendly, supportive environment where your colleagues consider you a friend
Our staff and practice manager support you, and our front desk staff does an amazing job at booking both small animal and equine appointments.
Flexible work schedule – if you’d like a nontraditional work schedule, we can make that happen.
Weekly doctor meetings – owners and practice manager weekly, and associates attend once a month. Everyone has a voice! We are always striving to improve.
Low staff turnover – doctors come and stay until they retire.
Relocation bonus $5,000.
In house (small animal) and portable (equine) ultrasound, as well as a DR radiograph for equine and high quality CR for small animal, and digital dental x-ray (small animal).
In-house IDEXX blood and urine machines to run samples on all species
24-hour emergency/specialty hospitals are available for referral in the area for both equine and small animal.
Chiropractic and acupuncture certification beneficial, but not required.
The finer details
Mentorship on the small animal side is encouraged, and available for those who need it, as there are other doctors on during week days. On the equine side, an independent worker is encouraged, but mentorship is available as needed.
Four, 8-hour days/week with 2 weekend days on duty in a rotation (approximately 1 weekend per month). Small animal appointments end an hour prior to shift end (time for notes and call backs!). Equine shifts include on call duty in the evenings, and by nature are less predictable.
Pay is salaried per diem, including 1 weekend a month on duty, plus an emergency fee for each case seen on the weekend/overnight shift worked.
Paid vacation, health insurance stipend, dues/licenses/DEA/liability insurance covered, CE stipend and paid CE days.
Start-date would be late summer. Our ideal candidate is experienced, but we will consider the right new graduate. An interest in surgery, including dentistry, is desired but not required.
Both locations have easy access to the highway for travel, and traffic is not an issue.
Please contact Robert Sturk (practice manager) at firstname.lastname@example.org, Dr Warner at email@example.com or call the practice directly at 802-254-5422 and speak with our phenomenal front desk staff!
