Lake County, is located in the heart of Central Florida, halfway between the Orlando metro area and Ocala horse country. Our brand new 25,000 sqft facility opened early this year. The shelter admits 5-6,000 animals annually and consistently achieves a 95%+ live release rate. The mission of the Lake County Animal Shelter is: To shelter and reunite or rehome the lost, abandoned, neglected, and surrendered pets of Lake County; to protect the safety of the community; to provide temporary shelter to the displaced and abandoned, and to give safety to the abused and neglected domestic animals of Lake County; to achieve a positive and appropriate outcome for all animals; to support and provide education to the community on the importance of responsible pet ownership and care.
