Equal Employment Opportunity Employer: It is the policy of the company to afford equal opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, non-disqualifying disability or status as a disabled or Vietnam era veteran. We work with a team approach by empowering all employees to use their talents and abilities as they are best able. Our skilled CSRs are our first contact to our clients responsible for taking calls, assisting clients, preparing daily charts, entering charges and closing out invoices, filling prescriptions and working as a liaison between doctors and clients. We currently employee two RVTs and three additional assistants. Our RVTs perform all dental cleanings and assist in any non-surgical and surgical oral procedures. Our Assistants and RVTs assist the doctor’s in surgical procedures and physical examinations, as well as, collecting samples and performing diagnostics, taking x-rays, and giving injections. These individuals also act as our patient advocates by preparing discharge instructions for all anesthetic procedures and reviewing them with our clients. Our doctors and practice manager share the same opinion that it is important to cross-train, so this is strongly encouraged, and the team does a great job of helping each other out when needed. We are a small animal practice that currently schedules surgical/dental procedures four mornings per week. We typically schedule 2 dental procedures 4 days per week and up to five additional surgical procedures on those days. We work on a 30-minute appointment schedule leaving some slots open for same day urgent care appointments. We also offer day admittance appointments for those pets needing to be seen when we do not have any appointment time availability on the schedule. We do not service walk-in appointments; however, we make all attempts to schedule the individuals for a different day when they do walk-in. While we do not close in the middle of the day, we do leave our schedule open from 12:15-2:45 for the doctors to see day admittance appointments and to make phones calls to clients. A big part of our clientele are retirees and families with children, and we tend to have very good compliance with the recommendations the doctors make. We open our doors at 7:30 and close at 5:30 Monday through Friday, and then 8:15 and 12:00 on Saturdays. Our doctors are general surgeons performing spays, neuters, hernia repairs, mass removals, elongated soft palate repair, stenotic nares surgery, cystotomy, V-lid resection, third eyelid flap surgery, splenectomy, etc. When appropriate, we refer out surgical procedures to board certified surgeons. We currently house a CO2 laser, ellman surgical unit, ultrasound unit, MedRx, digital x-ray/dental x-ray, Heska Elemnt HT5, Element i, and Element DC machines. Our practice software is AVImark and while we do make all entries for services provided, we also still have physical paper charts where patient SOAP notes are recorded. As a mentor, Dr. Zehr will share personal experiences and educate where opportunities are available. He will offer guidance in unfamiliar or difficult situations, as well as challenge the new associate to be the best doctor possible. He encourages brainstorming and new ideas to help develop executable strategies. Our ideal candidate is eager to learn with great attention to detail. He/she would possess a pleasant manner, be well spoken and easy to talk to. They should be confident and skillful yet empathetic and express a passion for the work they do.
