- Mentoring Veterinarian
Description
Join a team at the intersection of exceptional veterinary care and social change.
At the San Francisco SPCA, we believe every pet deserves compassionate, high-quality veterinary care—no matter their guardian’s financial situation. As a nonprofit, we break down barriers to care by offering financial assistance and individualized medical support to thousands of animals each year. Our work doesn’t serve shareholders—it serves pets, people, and the community.
We’re looking for a Mentoring Veterinarian who is not only a skilled clinician but also a teacher, leader, and advocate for contextualized, incremental care. You recognize that treatment plans must meet people where they are, and you bring a nonjudgmental, inclusive approach to veterinary medicine.
As the lead DVM at our full-service Mission Campus hospital, you’ll:
- Mentor and inspire a dedicated medical team
- Champion progressive models of care that expand access for all families
- Partner with operations leadership while keeping your focus on medicine, mentorship, and community impact
- This role is ideal for someone who wants to shape the future of veterinary medicine, improve access to care, and leave a lasting mark on the profession.
If you’re ready to combine your clinical expertise with your passion for mentorship and mission-driven care, we’d love to meet you.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited veterinary medical college – DVM/VMD or equivalent.
- Licensed to practice Veterinary Medicine in the State of California, or ability to obtain license.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a full-time practicing veterinarian, ideally in a multi-veterinarian small animal practice.
- Minimum of three (3) years in a leadership position in a Veterinary Medicine setting.
- As the lead veterinarian, excellent diagnostic, clinical, and surgical skills are essential.
Salary & Benefits
